A Definition refers to an entry for a specific Concept. Concepts can have more than one definition from more than one author.
To submit a definition, please consider the following criteria to prepare your entry:
- 1,500 words per entry (excluding resource cited and other further works suggestions)
- Clear, accessible language with as little jargon as possible.
- Structure your entry with the following sections:
- Definition and origins of the concept.
- Philosophies and practices with examples associated with the concept.
- Challenges and opportunities related to its implementation.
- Visual example(s) to illustrate the concept (image, videos, photographs, etc.).
- References: 3–5 sources cited within the entry.
- Further exploration: 3–5 suggested resources for deeper exploration.
- Abstract with 200 words summarizing the contribution.
Definitions to concepts should also adhere to the same general guidelines as Concepts: These should be formulated from struggles and not necessarily academic terms, they should respond to the Worldviews, Praxes, Common Terms and Companion Concepts defined above and they should try to highlight examples coming from the ground rather than abstract and academic theories.
The process of submission is as follows:
- Select and submit a Concept. Following the stipulated criteria (above), submit a concept through this form. Please note that all proposals we’ll be internally reviewed which means that submitting an entry does not guarantee its publication.
- Internal revision. The document will be reviewed by the DWG team. We will contact you once we have thoroughly reviewed the case.
- Feedback. After the review, we will reach out to request corrections, additional information, or to make suggestions for improvement.
- Publication. If all documentation is in order, we will publish the suggested definition.
